Over the last fifteen years, we have witnessed a new concept of goalkeeper much more involved in the team play, and #Qatar2022 showed us that goalkeepers are taking up higher positions out of possession, BUT…
…as evolution keeps going on every aspect of the game, coaches and outfield players study new ways of countering the opponent´s potential.
I have observed a new trend from last weekend matches….
Can it be the beginning of the end for those advanced positions?
Are we coming back to the old times where the goalkeepers were into the box and focused on defending their goals?
Time will tell !!
